Now I’m not normally a big fan of James Cameron’s ‘Special Edition’ re-release DVD/BluRays. I see it as a way for him to milk as much money from the fans as possible. However, I think I may have under-rated his scheming. This may be because I have never been a true fan of his work that has been given that treatment… until now.
Aliens.
Ever since I was a young boy I have loved the ‘Alien’ films. OK the first two anyway. The third wasn’t bad, but nowhere near as tense. I could sit watching them again and again and still jump when the Xenomorphe jumps from above a pipe or through a hatchway. It is therefore with great pleasure that I today discovered Aliens is being re-released on BluRay as a ‘Special Edition’. Not any old special edition though…
Personally supervised by director James Cameron, this special edition includes scenes eliminated prior to the film’s 1986 release which broaden the narrative scope and enrich the emotional impact of the film.
Does that quote need to work any harder to get my attention? No.
